Reporting a tax avoidance scheme

If you are offered a tax avoidance scheme, you should reject it and then report it to us.

By reporting tax avoidance schemes as early as possible, you can help us prevent people getting caught up in them and facing significant penalties.

Reporting a scheme

A tax scheme is an artificial or contrived arrangement designed to gain a tax benefit or defer tax obligations. For more information, see Aggressive Tax Planning.

You can report a tax scheme by:

  • calling our confidential Tax Planning Schemes hotline on 1800 177 006 between 8.30am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday
  • emailing us on reportataxscheme@ato.gov.au
