The Government will provide $14.8 million in 2009‑10 for the completion of the National Gallery of Australia's building refurbishment and enhancement project, with the additional funding necessary given increases in the estimated project costs. The funding will enable the completion of the expanded entrance and additional gallery space originally announced in the Mid‑Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook 2006‑07.

Provision for this funding has already been included in the forward estimates.

This measure was agreed with Senator Xenophon as part of negotiating the Nation Building and Jobs Plan announced on 3 February 2009.
