State of the industry research 2007 - bookkeepers employed in general business
This is a summary of research undertaken by the Tax Office to provide an understanding of the accounting industry – in particular, bookkeepers employed in general business.
The ‘State of the industry’ research project has been conducted biennially since 2003, initially with tax agents. Given the emerging importance of bookkeepers, the 2005 wave of this research included a focus on bookkeepers who were either in business, or employed by a business providing bookkeeping services.
Similar to the 2005 wave, the 2007 wave is about exploring the views, attitudes, outlook and work characteristics of another segment of the bookkeeping para-profession – those who are employed in general business.
This research was conducted by TNS Social Research, an external research consultant.
