Printer friendly format

There are a number of options available if you need to register for, or be eligible to claim:

  • goods and services tax (GST)
  • fuel tax credits (FTC)
  • pay as you go (PAYG) withholding
  • luxury car tax (LCT), or
  • wine equalisation tax (WET).

How to add a new business account

Online options

You can add some business accounts online through:

  • the Australian Business Register (ABR) (if you already have an ABN) at www.abr.gov.au
Accounts that can be added through the ABR include:
    • GST
    • GST and FTC (FTC can only be added at the same time as GST), or
    • PAYG withholding.
  • the Business Portal (or Tax Agent Portal).
You can register for GST and PAYG withholding via the portals. Tax agents will need to ensure their tax agent number is recorded against the client’s record before they can add a new business account for a client.

To perform these actions online you will need to register for a free digital certificate via online services.

By phone

  • Phone 13 28 66 between 8.00am and 6.00pm, Monday to Friday – you must be recorded by the Tax Office as an authorised contact for the entity. Please note that:
    • LCT and WET roles cannot be added over the phone
    • you must be registered for GST to register for LCT, and
    • if you are already registered for GST, you can register for FTC over the phone.

Tax agent

  • Talk to your tax agent about adding business accounts.
