This fact sheet has been developed in consultation with the property and valuation industries to help you check that the property valuation you have received from a professional valuer is an approved valuation for GST margin scheme purposes.

Terms we use

When we say:

  • property, we are referring to the GST term real property including:
    • a freehold interest in land
    • a stratum unit
    • a long term lease
  • sale or sell, we are referring to the GST term supply
  • purchase, we are referring to the GST term acquisition
  • approved valuation, we mean an approved valuation for GST purposes when using the margin scheme
  • payment (you make or receive), we are referring to the GST term consideration.
