Spotlight on GST compliance

We have received additional funding to focus on businesses that are committing GST fraud and avoiding their GST obligations.

With this funding we are conducting more audits, amending incorrect refund claims and applying penalties where appropriate.

'The community as a whole pays the price for the actions of tax cheats. We take the responsibility of protecting the community from tax cheats very seriously and rigorously seek to identify people making false claims in their tax returns,' Tax Commissioner Michael D'Ascenzo, recently said.

If you suspect that a person or a business is not complying with their tax obligations, you can let us know by completing a tax evasion report form online, or phone us on 1800 060 062 between 8.00am and 6.00pm, Monday to Friday.
