We provided services to the Department of Family and Community Services for the Family Assistance Office (as a result of a Budget measure) and the Child Support Agency (as a result of the administrative arrangements order of October 1998). Services to the Department of Health and Aged Care supported implementation of the private health insurance rebate (as a result of a Budget measure).
The Health Insurance Commission and the Department of Health and Aged Care administer the rebate. The rebate can be claimed in one of three ways: as reduced premiums through the health insurance provider; as a cash or cheque rebate from Medicare offices; or as a refundable tax rebate or offset through tax returns. The ATO administers the tax return option.
