Key message

As the ATO's direct link to the community, Operations is well placed to determine how to make good tax administration and taxpayer compliance with obligations as easy as possible.

We continue to work with the community to understand their service expectations in areas such as accuracy, convenience, technology support and environmental responsibility. This connection will also enable us to transform our service delivery approaches over the next few years in ways that are relevant to, and respected by all Australians.

We continue to strive to make whole-of-government improvements.

We have made significant progress in recent years to improve our productivity - but the journey is not complete. Our workloads continue to grow and this creates both challenges and opportunities for some new thinking. We support an innovative environment by encouraging our people to make suggestions and be creative in finding better ways to conduct our business. We are streamlining our business and process improvement activities to ensure that high-value initiatives are supported.

We are well prepared for a quality Tax Time 2012, having made improvements to many business processes and products.

We will develop the capabilities of our people so they can perform a wide range of roles across the sub-plan. This will allow for a fully committed and flexible workforce that is capable of meeting fluctuating workloads. If we can achieve this, community expectations will be met.

Our people are the key to Operations' success.

Thank you for your commitment in putting the Australian community at the forefront of our strive for innovation, effectiveness and delivery of quality service.
