Purpose

Background

The ATO recognises the important role of the community as owners of Australia's taxation and superannuation systems and consults widely with taxpayers, business and professional associations.

The Personal Tax Advisory Group has been one of the ATO's peak community consultation forums for the Individuals market for many years.

A review of the Personal Tax Advisory Group in 2011 identified further opportunity to enhance its effectiveness through re-constituting both the ATO and non-ATO membership, and by focussing discussions more strategically. This resulted in the creation of the current Individual Taxpayer Advisory Forum. This Forum will be the peak ATO community consultative channel for the individuals market.
