Evaluation of ATO risk management and strategic intelligence

In 2007-08 our risk-management and strategic intelligence approaches were evaluated by Booz Allen Hamilton. A series of improvements to our strategic intelligence capability were delivered through an evidence, litigation and intelligence management program, and improvements in our professional development program. In addition, an Ernst & Young review of our performance management framework recommended developing a new set of performance measures for evaluating the effectiveness of our risk-management and intelligence process.

In 2008-09, in response to the recommendations, we progressed the evidence, litigation and management program, including development of the 'Analyst Workbench' - an integrated platform supporting the more effective collection, sharing and analysis of intelligence, including complex entity relationships, structures and transactions.

Following the Ernst & Young review, an internal audit was completed and indicated significant progress in the continued enhancement of our risk-management processes.
