Electronic activity statement (e-BAS/e-IAS) specification for software
developers
The ATO has been working closely with accounting software developers to help them
ensure that their software products fully comply with the requirements of the new tax
system and can interface with the ECI Client software.
Specifically, the ATO has published a technical specification that defines the fields
displayed on the electronic business activity statement (e-BAS) and instalment activity
statement (e-IAS) form types, available in the ECI Client software.
The specification contains:
- XML file formats for the interface between the ATO ECI Client software and accounting
software packages; and
- e-BAS/e-IAS field label descriptions.
These specifications are primarily for the use of:
- commercial accounting software developers; and
- businesses maintaining 'in-house' accounting software.
A copy of this specification is available for download from the ATO Registered Software
Facility site www.ato.gov.au/rsf .
