Your step-by-step guide to dealing electronically with the Tax Office

Step 1 Get an ABN     More information about lodging an ABN registration form
If you don't have an Australian Business Number (ABN), apply for an ABN registration electronically via the Australian Business Register (ABR) homepage.
Step 2 Register to deal electronically    More information about completing your registration form
If you already have an ABN, but have not yet indicated you wanted to deal electronically with the Tax Office, you can register now.
Step 3 Receive your Keys and Certificates e-mail    More information about receiving your Keys and Certificates
Step 4 Receive your PIC Mailer    More information about receiving your Password and Personal Identification Code
The PIC Mailer contains your Password and Personal Identification Code (PIC). These will allow you to download and import your Keys and Certificates.
Step 5 Download your Keys and Certificates    More information about downloading your Keys and Certificates
Step 6 Select your business function    More information about importing your Keys and Certificates
You will be directed to the appropriate import process.
You are now ready to deal electronically with the Tax Office.
