From 1 July 2009, the way that repayment income is calculated for compulsory Higher Education Loan Programme (HELP) repayments will change. Your payees may need to review the current arrangements that they have with you to make sure that the tax withheld from their salary, wages and other payments during the year is still enough to cover the amount of tax they are liable to pay.
eligible students enrolled in Commonwealth supported places
a loan to cover all or part of the student contribution.
FEE-HELP
eligible fee-paying students enrolled at an approved higher education provider or Open Universities Australia
a loan to cover up to the full amount of tuition fees up to a lifetime loan limit.
OS-HELP
eligible Commonwealth supported students who wish to undertake study overseas towards their Australian higher education award
a cash loan to cover expenses such as accommodation and travel.
VET FEE-HELP
eligible students undertaking vocational education and training (VET) accredited diploma, advanced diploma, graduate diploma and graduate certificate courses with an approved VET provider
a loan to cover up to the full amount of tuition fees. The same FEE-HELP lifetime borrowing limit also applies.
