From 1 July 2009 changes will be made to the following: income tests for a number of tax offsets the way we define repayment income for HELP and Financial Supplement debts the obligation to pay the Medicare levy surcharge. You may no longer be eligible for some tax offsets and government benefits. You wil need to review the arrangements with your payer to make sure the tax they withhold from your salary, wages and other income during the income year is still enough to cover the amount of tax you are liable to pay.
