Examples of untaxed super funds

Here you will find a list of some of the major untaxed super funds. We recommend that you check with your fund if you aren't sure if your fund is taxed, untaxed or a combination of both types of funds.

Generally speaking, the amounts in untaxed super funds are only taxed when the benefit is paid, not while the money is accumulating in the account.

After you're 60, if you take any part of your untaxed super as a lump sum, you will pay only 15% tax on your payout, up to $1,205,000 (for 2011-12). Anything over that gets taxed at the top marginal tax rate.

If you take part of your untaxed benefit as a regular income after you're 60, it will now be taxed at your marginal tax rate and you will receive a 10% tax offset.
