Dear Minister
I have pleasure in presenting to you the eighty-ninth annual report of the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), covering the financial year 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010.
This report relates to the wide range of laws that I administer. These include revenue laws, the Australian Business Register, the Australian Valuation Office and significant aspects of superannuation. The report also includes information on our general organisation and administration.
In preparing this report, I have addressed all the legislative reporting requirements listed in Appendix 1
I certify that on 1 January 2010 the ATO started the 2010-11 two year cycle of fraud risk assessments and fraud and corruption control plans. This cycle and the ATO fraud and corruption control plan is scheduled to be finalised by 31 December 2011. I also certify that the ATO has in place appropriate fraud detection, prevention, investigation, reporting and data collection procedures and processes that meet the specific needs of the agency and comply with the Commonwealth Fraud Control Guidelines.
Yours sincerely
