How can I get an Australian TFN?

If you are outside Australia, you can apply for a TFN by downloading a Tax file number - application or enquiry for an individual living outside Australia (NAT 2628) from www.ato.gov.au

If you have arrived in Australia, you can apply for a TFN by downloading an application, or registering online, using this link Permanent migrants or temporary visitors to Australia - online tax file number (TFN) application or enquiry (NAT 4157) from www.ato.gov.au

You can also phone +61 13 28 66 to ask for a printed copy by quoting the four digit NAT number.
