The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) recognises that an ethical, fair, productive and transparent relationship with the private sector is important in its business dealings.
Ethical business relationships between the public and private sectors have many benefits for both sectors. We also recognise that there are important differences between the responsibilities, principles and goals of each sector.
The Ethical business relationships (EBR) statement is a statement of expectations. It is based on values and codes of conduct and our mutual responsibilities.
We expect that suppliers will benefit through reinforcing a culture of mutual respect and cooperation. The concepts in the statement also provide a basis for achieving better outcomes for all parties.
A PDF version of the EBR statement (PDF, 494KB) is available here for download.
Enquiries about the statement are welcome and should be made to your ATO contract manager or by contacting the Assistant Commissioner, Contracts Accounts Assurance, at the contact details in the statement.
If your contract refers to the 'Ethical relationships guide for ATO employees and suppliers' (now superseded) it will continue to apply for the duration of your contract. If you require a copy of the guide, you can contact Contract Management Support by email.
