Register for a secure login as an individual

In order to manage your personal tax and super affairs as an individual you will need to register for a secure login.

What you need to register

To register for a secure login you will be asked questions about your identity. The answers you provide will be checked against our records to confirm your identity.

Make sure that you have the following handy when you create your secure login.

  1. Your tax file number

You can find your TFN on:

  • your income tax notice of assessment (NOA)
  • correspondence we have sent you
  • a payment summary - for example, from your employer or Centrelink
  • your super member contribution statement.
  1. Your name and date of birth

You will need to provide us with your date of birth, first given name and family/surname that has previously been reported to us. If you are unsure what you have reported to us, refer to letters or notices we may have sent you.

  1. Shared secret information

A shared secret is specific information relating to you that is provided to us by certain organisations and institutions.

You will need to provide us with information from two different documents listed in the table below. You cannot give us two shared secrets from the same type of document. For example, you cannot use two notices of assessment from different years.

Only shared secrets where we have information available for you will be visible for selection.

Bank account

(for an interest bearing investment account eg a term deposit or an account that we paid your tax refund into)

  • BSB
  • Bank account number

Issued within the last two financial years

PAYG payment summary

(Formerly known as a 'group certificate')

  • Year
  • Income amount

Centrelink payment summary

  • Year
  • Income amount

Dividends statement

  • Year
  • Investment reference number
