Control access to your secure tax information

Online Access Manager (OAM), which was used to manage access and permissions in the Tax Agent, BAS Agent and Business Portals, has been replaced with a new stand-alone system - Access Manager (AM).

AM features the same level of security as OAM and allows Administrator AUSkey holders to control access to their secure tax information.

You can also open AM through a link in the portals.

What has changed?

  • As AM is a stand-alone system, you need to login to AM to manage your access and permissions
    • You don't need to log into the Tax Agent or Business Portal to do this
    • AM is accessible from www.ato.gov.au or through a link in the portals
  • When we need to make changes to AM, we won't need to take the portals offline to do so, ensuring less impact on portal users
  • There is a new feature called Copy permissions - this function gives the access administrator the option to copy the same permission set to numerous credential holders at the same time
  • An access administrator can use a simplified process to provide or remove staff access to the agent numbers associated with their business - AM allows the administrator to grant a credential holder with access to numerous agent numbers at the same time

AM has a new look and feel that is more intuitive, which should increase ease of use.

What remains the same?

  • AM features the same level of security as OAM - to login to AM, you use your AUSkey as you would to login to the Tax Agent, BAS Agent or Business Portals
  • AM offers the same functions as OAM, including the ability to
    • temporarily disable staff access (for example, when they go on leave)
    • restrict access to certain clients and functions your staff can perform within the portal
  • Your OAM permissions have been automatically copied over to AM
