The new data standards are part of the Government's Super Reform package. They will provide a consistent, reliable electronic method of transacting linked data and payments for superannuation. The goal is to improve the efficiency of the superannuation system, to improve the timeliness of processing of rollovers and contributions, and reduce the number of lost accounts and unclaimed monies.
Alternate electronic service address
The Commissioner of Taxation has approved the use of a uniform resource location (URL) as one kind of digital address for the receipt of electronic communications.
Alternate unique superannuation identifier
The Commissioner of Taxation has approved the use of a product's superannuation product identification number (SPIN) as a unique superannuation identifier.
APRA fund letter - SuperStream obligations
Copy of a letter sent on 15 March 2013 by the ATO and APRA to APRA-regulated funds to help them understand their obligations around the implementation of the new data and e-commerce standard.

The data standards are a set of minimum conditions for data and payment transmission, including a minimum set of prescribed data.

Super data and payment standards legislation came into effect on 28 June 2012. This provides the dates you need to adopt the standard by.
