Program of events

In 2010, our centenary year, events included:

February

  • commencing our centenary year.

March

  • recognising 100 years of women in the ATO on International Women's Day.

June

  • releasing Blatant, Artificial and Contrived: Tax schemes of the 70s and 80s in Australia, a book by former Commissioner Trevor Boucher about an unprecedented challenge to the integrity of the tax system
  • releasing our new Strategic statement and setting a clear direction for our activities over the next five years
  • releasing our updated Taxpayers' Charter.

July

  • conferring the Commissioner's Awards, the highest award an employee can receive in the ATO
  • releasing our Corporate plan, which sets out our corporate priorities
  • introducing the ATO's Centenary commemorative stamp, which Australia Post created and will be available to the public until the end of 2010.

September

  • releasing the ATO Centenary commemorative circulating 20 cent coin, produced by the Royal Australian Mint.

November

  • recognising that Remembrance Day falls on 11 November, we will mark our centenary on 12 November 2010
  • launching the ATO's official history, written by Dr Leigh Edmonds.

December

  • closing our centenary year and looking to the future with confidence.
