31 May 2012

As part of our commitment to providing useful and accessible products and services, all 2012 instructions, forms and schedules will be available online.

You can access the majority of tax time publications now by visiting Tax Time 2012 essentials.

Others will be available soon, including:

  • Partnership tax return instructions 2012
  • Self-managed superannuation fund annual return instructions 2012
  • Trust tax return instructions 2012.

As in previous years, some 2012 publications are only available online and cannot be ordered as print publications through the ATO Publication Ordering Service.

Product changes

TaxPack and TaxPack supplement have now been replaced by two new print products:

The replacement products have been streamlined to focus on the information that applies to the majority of paper lodgers.

As in previous years, the full set of individual tax return instructional information will be on our website. We are making these instructions available earlier for you this year. From 1 June, you can access them by visiting www.ato.gov.au/instructions2012

Note: Some of the publications referred to online are still being finalised. They will all be available by 1 July 2012.

For ease of access, a hyperlink to the full set of instructional information will be available from the Tax Time 2012 essentials page under 'Related topics'.

Electronic lodgment service (ELS) software developers will be provided with the full set of instructional information.

Another change for tax time is that the Business and professional items instructions will now only be available from our website.

For information about other product changes for this year, refer to Tax Time 2012 product changes.
