Overview

The electronic lodgment service (ELS) is an electronic data exchange system that allows you to transmit data to us, and receive reports and electronic forms from us.

The Tax Agent Portal is an online database system that provides real-time access to a range of information and services via our website at any time.

The ELS and the portal generally complement each other, rather than duplicate functions.

  • The main feature of the ELS is its ability to accept electronic income tax return lodgments - this feature is not available on the portal.
  • The main feature of the portal is its real-time, interactive facility to view, enquire about or update information on client accounts - this feature is not available on the ELS.
  • You can use both the ELS and the portal to:
    • update client details
    • lodge activity statements
    • apply for private binding rulings.
  • You can obtain reports using both systems - however, the reports you obtain from the ELS are different to those you obtain from the portal.
  • Other online forms and services are available on the portal.
