Why does the Tax Office conduct research?

The Tax Office needs objective and independent information to understand what people think, feel and do in relation to our services, products, and education.

Our research seeks your comments and reactions to many different things. For example, we use research to:

  • monitor overall satisfaction with the way the Tax Office administers the tax system
  • obtain information for reporting our performance in the Annual Report
  • find out how we can make it easier for people to meet their tax obligations
  • identify the channels through which people prefer to make contact with us, such as phone or web, and
  • seek opinions on the design and content of educational products.
