New to tax practice

Registered tax agents

Newly registered tax agents are issued with a Certificate of Registration by the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB), which is accompanied by information outlining your responsibilities as a registered tax agent.

Those responsibilities include:

  • Quoting your full registered agent number (RAN) on all communications to the TPB or us.
  • Being familiar with signature and declaration requirements and ensuring all returns, requests for amendment and other documents lodged with us have been properly authorised.
  • Advising the TPB in writing if you change your
    • address for service
    • business address
    • email address
    • registered name
    • business name
    • business or ownership structure.
  • Ensuring your own personal tax lodgment obligations are up to date.

The TPB advises us of any registrations they approve. However, the information they can provide to us does not include all of your contact details when either you first register with them, or later when you contact them to change your details.

To help us work effectively with you in your role as a registered tax agent, we need to ensure we have your current:

  • postal address
  • phone number
  • fax number
  • email address.

Phone us on 1800 443 846 so we can record your contact details correctly.
