Australian Business Register (ABR)

ABN registration for government
The Australian Business Register (ABR)'s Application for ABN registration for government organisations should be used by government organisations to apply for an ABN. Online registration is not available for government organisations.
Australian Business Register
The Australian Business Register (ABR) is a national database of information collected when businesses and other organisations register for an Australian business number (ABN). This identifier, together with AUSkey and Standard Business Reporting (SBR), facilitates streamlined electronic business interactions with government in a growing digital Australia.
If you’re in business you should get an Australian business number (ABN). You may also need to register for certain tax obligations and entitlements. We use registration to manage the tax and superannuation systems fairly for all businesses and their employees.
Update your details
If your business details change - for example, if you change your address or authorised contact person - you're required by law to tell us within 28 days so we can update the Australian Business Register and pass on the changes to other government agencies.
