Work related expenses deductions

Clothing, laundry and dry-cleaning expenses
You can claim a deduction for the cost of buying and cleaning occupation-specific clothing, protective clothing and unique, distinctive uniforms.
Home office expenses
If you're an employee who regularly works from home, you may be able to claim a deduction for expenses relating to that work.
Income and deductions
Income tax is paid on money you receive, such as salary and wages, Centrelink payments, and investments. The amount of tax you pay depends on how much income you receive. You may be able to reduce the amount of tax you pay by claiming certain expenses you incurred in earning your income
Other deductions
You may be able to claim other deductions for expenses relating to earning your income, managing your tax affairs and making personal superannuation contributions.
Self-education expenses
You may be able to claim a deduction for self-education expenses if your self-education relates to your current work activities as an employee or if you receive a taxable bonded scholarship.
Tools, equipment and other assets
If you buy tools, equipment or other assets to help earn your income, you can claim a deduction for some or all of the cost.
Vehicle and travel expenses
You can claim vehicle and other travel expenses directly connected with your work, but you can't claim for normal trips between home and work - this is considered private travel.
