Deductions for motor vehicle expenses
As a business owner, you can claim a tax deduction for expenses for motor vehicles – cars and certain other vehicles – used in running your business.
Tax concessions - cars
You may be eligible to purchase a car, car parts and medical aids and appliances for your car without incurring goods and services tax (GST). If you make modifications to your luxury car to enable you to drive it or be transported in it, you may also be eligible for an exemption from luxury car tax (LCT).
Vehicle and travel expenses
You can claim vehicle and other travel expenses you incur when you travel in the course of performing your work duties, but you can't claim for normal trips between home and work – this is considered private travel.
