  • Reinventing the ATO

We want to give you the best possible experience of the tax and superannuation systems, so we're changing the way we work.

Our vision is to be a contemporary, service-oriented organisation. To achieve this we are transforming our services and the way we deal with you.

Our starting point was to ask people how they use the tax and superannuation systems, and what they want. They said we should fix the basics, provide certainty, tailor services to their needs and help them navigate the system.

From this consultation we created a blueprint for change, which provides a clear line of sight to what we want to achieve as we reinvent the ATO through new or improved products and services.

Some improvements from the blueprint have already been delivered and we're working to deliver more in the years ahead.

Here's how we are making every year count for:

Our every year counts suite have been updated to show what has already been delivered in 2016-17 and initiatives that have a revised release date.

We are very mindful of the disruption that the outages in December and February caused the community and our key stakeholders - tax practitioners, the superannuation industry and digital service providers.

Our priority has been, and is, to ensure stability, reliability and availability of our services to the community, our key stakeholders and government.

Here's a short video that highlights some of the key improvements we delivered in 2015-16.

Throughout our reinvention program we'll continue to check with the community that we're on track. The measure of our success will be client satisfaction and community participation in the tax and superannuation systems.
