    Chris Jordan AO

    Chris is the first Commissioner appointed from outside the ATO. He has broad and lengthy experience in tax policy and law development and implementation, having held influential roles in the private sector and as a government advisor to both Labor and Coalition governments.

    Chris has 30 years of experience in the tax profession. He started his accounting career with the firm Arthur Andersen, was a senior lecturer in taxation at Sydney's University of Technology for a few years and then worked at KPMG for over two decades.

    He was Chair of the Board of Taxation and a member of the Board since its inception. He also served as Chair of the Business Tax Working Group and as Chair of The New Tax System Advisory Board.

    Chris has a Master of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce and Law. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, the Tax Institute and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

    Chris Jordan's term as Commissioner of Taxation and Registrar of the Australian Business Register runs from 1 January 2013 to 31 December 2019.
