Standard Business Reporting streamlines information exchange between business and government.

Use of the SBR gateway increased sharply over the year, associated with the increasing availability of commercial software products. Reports lodged through the system totalled over 148,000, about seven times the 2011–12 volume. The gateway was also used for more than 225,000 informational transactions. The number of commercial software providers licensed to develop SBR increased to 128, compared with 85 at 30 June 2012. Of these, 34 are self-certified to have products in the market.

The SBR taxonomy was further developed during the year, with the continuing identification, consolidation and unique naming of duplicate data elements across agencies and reporting forms. The number of data elements was reduced from approximately 33,500 (unharmonised) to 6,600 (harmonised) by the end of the year.

We also enhanced the SBR taxonomy by developing the Australian reporting dictionary, an online tool which presents the taxonomy's business reporting terms and their definitions in a concise, searchable and user-friendly style.
