The ATO is accountable to ministers, parliament and the community, and subject to external scrutiny. To ensure our performance and accountability is maintained, we are committed to governance arrangements and practices that support the Commissioner in leading, governing and setting the strategic direction of the ATO. Our governance arrangements and practices include:

    • good structures and frameworks
    • open and transparent operations
    • integrated risk management
    • efficient administrative practices.

By complying with accountability requirements within legislation and policy, and meeting public expectations of openness, transparency and integrity management, the ATO fulfils its corporate governance responsibilities.
