    This information is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who are undertaking an undergraduate degree and are interested in working at the ATO.

    Applications for the 2019 Indigenous cadetship program open on 20 September 2018 and close at 5:00pm (AEDT) on 11  October 2018.

    Program overview

    Our Indigenous cadetship program:

    • is a two-to-three year development program
    • combines your university study with practical ATO work placements
    • provides you with a job when you complete your degree.

    The Indigenous cadetship program is a great way to give your career a head start and gain unique work experiences you can take with you wherever your career path leads.

    What we offer

    We provide:

    • financial assistance while you complete your degree
    • challenging work rotations to develop your skills and explore different areas of interest
    • support from a dedicated program manager and rotation team leaders
    • commencement at the Cadet APS classification level
    • ongoing pay during both your work placements and your university studies

    On successful completion of the program you will:

    • be offered an ongoing (permanent) full time role
    • be eligible for further advancement to the APS 3 classification level which includes a pay rise
    • receive formal recognition for completing the program
    • continue to receive a wide range of employee benefits, including:      
      • four weeks annual leave
      • annual salary advancement (dependent on satisfactory performance)
      • flexible working hours
      • excellent superannuation benefits.
       

    Work rotations

    During your work rotations, you will build networks and identify which areas interest you.

    • you'll work 90 days within the office
    • we'll provide you with 12-month rotations in different areas of the ATO
    • you'll have the opportunity to apply the skills you are gaining at university.
