    • if you're found suitable for the program, you'll receive an offer.

    Evergreen recruitment timeline

    The timeline for 2020 is outlined in the following list:

    • applications open on 22 January 2020
    • applications close on 11 February 2020 (late applications will not be accepted)
    • interviews will be held in March
    • pre-engagement and reference checks will occur and letters of offer sent in April
    • for successful applicants, employment will commence in late June.

    Lodging your application

    Applications for the 2020 Evergreen program open on 22 January 2020 and will close on 11 February 2020. Late applications will not be accepted.

    The first stage of the application process is completed online. You will need to provide:

    • your contact details
    • your work history in the form of a resume
    • your education details
    • confirmation of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.

    We recommend you have the confirmation of your Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent ready when you start your application.

    Once you've lodged your application, you'll receive an email confirmation.

    Reviewing your application

    Your online application will be assessed to make sure you're eligible for the program and that you have some baseline core skills that it takes to have a successful career at the ATO.

    Once your application has been reviewed, you'll receive an email advising you if you have met the requirements to move to the next stage of the recruitment process.

    Interview

    If you are selected to be invited to attend an interview, we will contact you to arrange a suitable time. These will be held in March.

    At the interview, you will be assessed on your ability to:

    • adapt to change
    • plan and manage a workload
    • analyse problems and develop practical solutions
    • provide client service
    • build relationships and collaborate
    • communicate.

    These will be assessed through a combination of written tasks and verbal interview-style questions.

    Preliminary decision

    At this point, your performance from all assessment stages of the process will be reviewed and your suitability determined.

    Final checks and offer

    You will be asked to provide the name and contact details of an employment referee.

    We'll conduct a reference check and number of pre-employment checks. This includes a police clearance. Any offer of employment will be subject to the results of these enquiries being satisfactory.

    If satisfactory, you can then accept the formal offer and start your career with us in June 2020.
