  • Assessment process

All ATO jobs are filled on merit. We use streamlined processes and a mix of assessment methods to assess your suitability for the job, including:

    • written applications
    • interviews
    • psychometric testing (standardised tests designed to assess your abilities, personality, motivations, values and interests)
    • simulation exercises such as role plays, presentations, group exercises, in-tray exercises and case studies
    • assessment centres, with a combination of assessment exercises, such as interview, psychometric testing and simulation exercises
    • referee reports.

Assessment method details will be in your candidate information kit.

Reasonable adjustments will be applied to the selection process for candidates with disabilities to enable you to apply and compete on merit.

    Examples include:

    • additional time to complete assessments
    • the provision of an interpreter
    • accessible computer hardware and software.

If you require reasonable adjustment, call the contact officer for further advice.

You can find further information about disability for applicants and employees on the Australian Public Service websiteExternal Link.
