    Program overview

    Our Evergreen program:

    • is a 18-month development program
    • is a full-time role
    • provides you with a permanent job on completion.

    What we offer

    • an national, intensive and challenging program
    • a starting salary of over $50,000 (level APS 2)
    • two challenging nine-month work rotations which will provide you with the opportunity to work in a variety of roles
    • regular training which will cover a wide range of topics, including:
      • how government works
      • introduction to tax and superannuation
      • topics on professional skills.

    On successful completion of the program you will:

    • be offered a permanent job
    • receive formal recognition for completing the program
    • advance to the next classification level APS3
    • on successful advancement be paid a salary $57,965 with excellent superannuation benefits
    • continue to receive a wide range of employee benefits including leave conditions, annual salary advancement, and flexible working hours.

    Work rotations

    During the program you will:

    Roles

    Your work rotation may include one or more of the following work types.

    Client engagement  

    In this role you will undertake case work in various market segments to ensure taxpayers are meeting their obligations and complying with taxation legislation, regulations and standards.

    Tasks may include:

    • reviewing and assessing taxation returns to determine compliance with legislative requirements
    • conducting field, telephone and desk audits
    • auditing compliance systems
    • managing relationships with clients and stakeholders
    • identifying compliance risks, developing and implementing improvement strategies to mitigate them
    • determining, imposing and reviewing penalties.

    Administration officer  

    In this role you will support and help organise the business.

    Tasks may include:

    • managing and maintaining records and information
    • liaison and communication
    • compiling and preparing documents, reports and correspondence
    • general reporting
    • data management
    • policy implementation.

    Client experience officer  

    In this role you will undertake a range of customer service activities in a call centre environment across different areas of the ATO. You will have a high level of client contact.

    Tasks may include:

    • assisting the community
    • answering incoming or outbound enquiries
    • providing technical advice across differing legislative, policy and procedural requirements
    • communicating and negotiating with clients and stakeholders to resolve a broad range of customer service enquiries received via different channels
    • verifying and updating data
    • recording interactions on a range of internal information systems.
