• New Small Business Education Research 2016

    The ATO is committed to improving the new small business client experience. This includes building positive engagement by offering tailored and easily accessible education services to assist small businesses to understand and interact with the tax and super systems more effectively, and prevent problems arising.

    We commissioned independent researchers, Winangali, to undertake research into how new small businesses learn about financial management, including tax and superannuation.

    We also sought to understand their perceived level of business management knowledge and experience when they started their business, including financial record keeping, payment and invoicing procedures, use of accounting systems, and business planning.

    This was to help us understand what they need to know and learn, their preferences for learning and how we can best meet their needs.
