    Use your Business Portal mailbox to securely send and receive messages (and attachments) related to your dealings with us. Engage with us on a range of topics, including:

    • activity statements
    • debt and lodgement
    • excise
    • exploration incentives
    • fringe benefits tax
    • general questions, problems and help
    • goods and services tax (GST)
    • higher education loan accounts
    • income tax
    • insolvency
    • lodge report
    • pay as you go
    • petroleum resource rent tax
    • refunds/remissions
    • registrations
    • statement requests/account details
    • superannuation.

    Using the Business Portal mailbox

    Once you've logged in to the portal, select Mail from the menu. Here you can securely perform email tasks, including:

    • sending new messages    
      • send a separate message for each subject
      • ensure you attach all supporting documentation, up to a maximum of six attachments per mail
      • after sending your message, you will receive a receipt number
      • when sending mail with attachments, ensure that the attached documentation  
        • is less than 4MB in size
        • is in a suitable format (doc, .pdf, .rtf, .xls, .tif, .jpg, .zip, .bmp, .png, .gif, .mpp, .ppt, .docx, .dotx, .xlsx, .xltx, .pptx, .potx, .ppsx.)
        • is not encrypted (for example, password protected)
        • doesn’t contain macros
        • doesn’t contain formulas (copying and pasting information from one spreadsheet to another may introduce unseen elements in your spreadsheet)
        • is not an executable file (common executable file extensions include .exe, .app, .vb, .scr)
    • replying to messages
    • receiving replies from us
    • setting up email notifications    
      • you can be notified at your preferred email address when we have sent you a message to your Business Portal mailbox
      • simply select Email notification on the right side of the inbox, click Setup and enter, or update your email address
      • email notifications will always be from our trusted email address – Taxofficeportalmessagenotify@ato.gov.au
    • tracking the progress of your messages    
      • use the Your dealings with the Tax Office on the menu to track the progress of your interactions with us.
    Log in to the Business Portal

    We'll respond to your mail through your portal mailbox. You can set up a notification so that you receive an email when new mail is delivered.
