  • Junior Minerals Exploration Incentive: Year 3 opening soon

The Junior Minerals Exploration Incentive (JMEI) encourages investment in small minerals exploration companies that carry out greenfields mineral exploration in Australia.

    How to participate

If you wish to participate in Year 3 of the Junior Minerals Exploration Incentive (JMEI) for the 2018–19 financial year, you need to complete the junior minerals exploration incentive participation form and lodge it through the Business Portal or Tax Agent Portal.

Applications to participate in the JMEI for the 2019–20 income year need to be lodged between 9:00am AEST on 3 June 2019 and 11:59pm AEST on 30 June 2019. Participation forms lodged before the application period opens, or those received after the application period closes, will not be considered.

    How funds are allocated

Participation forms are considered, and the exploration credits are allocated on a first come, first served basis until the annual cap has been reached. If the annual cap is not reached, that balance will carry forward into the subsequent year. The scheme applies from 1 July 2017 until 30 June 2021, with total credits limited to $100 million. Exploration credits for Year 3 are capped at $30 million.
