  • STP finalisations are now overdue

As part of your Single Touch Payroll (STP) obligations, you are required to finalise your employees' 2019–20 financial year payroll information by:

    • 14 July if you have 20 or more employees
    • 31 July if you have 19 or fewer employees.

If you haven't made a finalisation declaration yet, you will need to do so now or apply for a deferral.

If you still need to submit your finalisation declaration, you must do so now. Finalise your 2019–20 financial year data through your STP-enabled software.

The sooner you finalise, the sooner the 2019–20 financial year information will display as 'tax ready' in your employee’s ATO online services account. It will then be ready for your employees to use in their tax return.

If your employees use data that is ‘Not tax ready’ to lodge their tax return, they may encounter issues such as:

    • data they see in myGov may not align with the data in your payroll software
    • they may need to amend their tax return and pay additional tax.
