  • Research using the reference facility

    Transcript

Welcome to the ATO eSAT video series. Over the next few minutes, we will show you how to navigate and find information using the reference facility. The reference facility is a library of material specific to self-managed super funds and the super laws. It is integrated into eSAT. Use it at any time. You can toggle between the reference facility and any job you may be working on.

When you open the reference facility, you will see two panels. The left panel has two tabs, ‘Contents’ and ‘Search’. Use the search tool to search for a specific term. For example, a search for ‘collectables’ will show the content where the collectables are mentioned. If terms and acronyms are in common use you can also search this way, for example, you can search for ‘limited recourse borrowing arrangements’ or ‘LRBAs’ to produce the same results.

Selecting items from the contents shows the information in the right-hand panel. The topic-based content uses the same structure as the compliance audit support and can also be accessed from it. Case studies, legal references and other information can be accessed through links in the related content. For example, scrolling down here you will find case studies (one of which deals with LRBAs).

The case studies available provide guidance for specific circumstances.

Discussion topics provide general information that has not been included in either the topic or case study material.

The glossary provides easy access to definitions alphabetically.

Any content in the reference facility can be printed, or exported as a PDF. To do this, select File and Print from the top menu. The reference facility provides quick access to self-managed fund information whether you are online or not.
