A model of successful indigenous small business owners

The model presents a 'pathway' of successful Indigenous small business owners (Figure 1). Entrepreneurs are motivated by several factors to start a business ('drivers'). Certain factors appear to be necessary to start a business ('factors necessary').

Once in business, the owner needs to overcome certain negative influences ('disablers') in order to survive and succeed. Conversely, we also found certain positive influences ('enablers') on business success.
