About the Dispute Resolution Working Group
The DRWG provides stakeholders and senior ATO leaders with a forum to discuss and develop dispute resolution strategies that encourage disputing parties to resolve disputes promptly and avoid or minimise litigation. The group is focused on a broad range of disputes, including those through the pipeline from audit to litigation and complaints. The group provides an opportunity for strategic discussion to develop and improve the administration and operation of the taxation and superannuation system into the future, with particular focus on resolution and prevention of disputes.
About membership
Membership reflects the broader community with which the ATO seeks to consult and comprises representatives from different but relevant sectors of the community. Membership is at the discretion of the ATO Chair and is subject to the relevance of a stakeholder’s knowledge and expertise of the subject matter, and their potential to contribute to outcomes.
Member expectations
Members will actively contribute to the work of the group and abide by the ATO Consultation framework and Consultation principles.
Attendance and participation at meetings
- The DRWG aims to operate in an environment of transparency, however, members are not authorised to disclose information that was discussed or provided at a DRWG meeting which is declared confidential, or which they ought to reasonably know is confidential, without the prior written approval of the Chair.
- Members respect the confidentiality of information provided by members where appropriate.
Successful nominees may be required to complete an integrity declaration.
