1. Welcome, minutes and action items

Deputy Commissioner Shane Reardon, Public Groups and International opened the meeting and welcomed all members and participants.

He also welcomed a new member Michael Cranston (Deputy Commissioner, Private Groups and High Wealth Individuals).

Apologies were received from: Cindy Perryman (BHP Billiton Limited), Pero Stojanovski (Business Council of Australia) and Matthew Brine (Treasury).

The Deputy Commissioner informed members that this will be the last meeting with Andrew Warren (General Manager Taxation, Asia Pacific, Xstrata Corporate), Trevor Hughes (Managing Partner, Business Tax Services Oceania, Ernst & Young) and Bruce Quigley (Second Commissioner, Compliance Group. David Watkins (Partner National Tax, Deloitte Touche and Tohmatsu) will replace Trevor as the Big 4 accounting representative on the LBLG.

Members stepping down were acknowledged and thanked for their significant contributions to this forum. Special mention was made to Second Commissioner Quigley as he enters retirement at the end of 2013 after working with the ATO for over 41 years.

Apologies were received from Peter Crone (Director Policy, Business Council of Australia), Rob Heferen (Executive Director, Revenue Group, Treasury) and Chen Leon (Vice President Taxation Asia Pacific, BHP Billiton Limited).

Two new action items were developed as part of the day’s meeting discussion.
