    Identifying eligible employees

    Each employee must meet all eligibility criteria for you to claim the JobMaker Hiring Credit. There are criteria relating to the employee, and their employment with you.

    You are not required to pass the JobMaker Hiring Credit payment to your employees.

    Nominating employees

    Each of your eligible additional employees must complete a JobMaker employee notice. A completed notice verifies that your employee has declared they meet certain eligibility requirements for you to receive the JobMaker Hiring Credit payment.

    Before you make a claim for JobMaker Hiring Credit payments, make sure that your eligible employees have provided you with employee notices. You don't need to send the completed notice to us but should keep a copy for your records.

    You must nominate employees and provide all the relevant details set out below using STP by the due date in the following table for each JobMaker period below.

    Reporting employee information

    Adding employees through Single Touch Payroll

    You can add new employees by running a payroll event through your Single Touch Payroll (STP) enabled software. Your STP reporting is due three days before the end of the claim period for the JobMaker period you are making a claim for. This will enable the relevant information to be pre-filled in the claim form. Make sure you include the following details.

    Removing employees through Single Touch Payroll

    If you incorrectly nominate an employee for the JobMaker Hiring Credit, you can use the allowance code JMHC-NOMX to remove them when you next run your payroll.

    Updating employee details

    You can add or update employee details by running pay events through your STP enabled software.

    Viewing nominated employees online

    View of nominated employees will be available online by February 2021.

    As you run pay events through your STP enabled software, you'll see a summary of nominated employees' details that we've processed for each JobMaker period online.

    To see this summary when it is available online, log in to either:

    Once you have logged into ATO online services or Online services for business you can:

    • Select Employees
    • Select JobKeeper or JobMaker Hiring Credit
    • Select View from Nominated Employees.

    Your registered Tax or BAS agent can also nominate employees for you.

    Select a JobMaker period to view the list of nominated employees we've processed based on your STP pay events.

    You can still add or update information using your STP enabled software. Any changes will be reflected once we've processed the information (which may take up to 72 hours), provided you have not submitted your claim form.

    Status

    Each employee listed will be marked as one of three statuses:

    • Incomplete – some details are missing for this employee
    • Not eligible – based on the details you have reported for this employee, they are not eligible for you to claim Jobmaker Hiring Credit
    • Ready – based on the details you have reported for this employee, they are ready to be included in the claim for the selected JobMaker period.

    Payment rate

    This field is filled automatically, based on the STP data you have provided us. The payment rate is determined by an employee's age when their employment with you began and is calculated using the following rates (converted to a daily rate):

    • higher ($200 a week) – the employee was between 16 and 29 years old (inclusive)
    • lower ($100 a week) – the employee was between 30 and 35 years old (inclusive)
    • not applicable – all other employees.

    Days employed

    This field is filled automatically, based on the STP data you have provided us on commencement dates.

    Worked or paid 20 hours or more

    To be eligible for JobMaker Hiring Credit, an employee must have worked, or have been paid, for a minimum average of 20 hours per week across each JobMaker period from the time they are employed.

    You must confirm that your eligible employees meet this requirement for each JobMaker period through STP in order for their status to be updated.
