On 15 October 2013, the government announced that it will repeal the Carbon Tax and other related measures. The carbon tax repeal – fuel tax credits and excise was one of the other related measures.
Legislation and supporting material
The Clean Energy Legislation (Carbon Tax Repeal) Bill 2013 was defeated in the Senate on 20 March 2014.
A series of bills to repeal the carbon tax and related measures was re-introduced into parliament on 14 July 2014.
On 17 July 2014, the bill received Royal Assent.
