  • ATO app Android systems permissions

If you're using the ATO app on a device running Android 8.0 or newer, the app will ask for permission to access certain services so it can use different functions in the app. These permission messages are created by Google and can't be customised by us. Following is a detailed breakdown of the permissions and what they are used for.

    Permissions and uses

    Permission message

Why do we ask for it?

Allow ATO to access your device’s location?

The ATO app uses your device’s location to track distance and to find your current location when adding a trip in the myDeductions tool. It is also used to find ATO service locations near you.

Storage – Android 8,9,10 users only

Allow ATO to access photos, media and files on your device?

Access to your device storage allows the ATO app to store and access photos and saved data used in the app, for example photos of receipts added to the myDeductions tool or copies of your saved results from other tools.

This access also allows the app to update certain rates and information as required.

Permissions can be managed by going to your device Settings > Apps > ATO > Permissions (or similar depending on your device).
