Project Wickenby raised over $2.2 billion in liabilities and contributed to improved tax compliance behaviour.

Last updated 27 March 2019

The Project Wickenby cross-agency taskforce played a pivotal role in the Australian Government's fight against offshore tax evasion.

The Project Wickenby taskforce was established in 2006 to protect the integrity of Australia's financial and regulatory systems. It prevented people from promoting or participating in the abusive use of secrecy jurisdictions. The task force led to over $2.2 billion in tax liabilities raised. It also increased tax collections from improved compliance behaviour following high profile investigations, prosecutions and sentencings.

Project Wickenby finished on 30 June 2015 when the Serious Financial Crime Taskforce was established.
