  • Early access to your money in a disaster

    If you are in financial difficulty as a result of a disaster, you may be able to get early access to a refund from a tax return or activity statement. You may also be able to access your superannuation (super) in certain circumstances if you meet strict conditions.

    Priority processing of refunds

    If you're expecting a refund from an income tax return or activity statement, we may be able to arrange for your refund to be issued as a priority.

    Early access to super

    You may be able to access your super early if you meet certain strict conditions of early release, in the following circumstances:

    If you've been affected by a disaster, such as the droughts and bushfires or COVID-19, you may also be able to access your super early. You will still need to be in one of the circumstances listed above and meet the strict conditions of release.

    In the case of death, super funds will pay any benefits to the dependants of the deceased, the beneficiaries of the deceased estate, or both. Contact the relevant super fund to discuss access to superannuation in the case of a death.
